Improved Organization for published "Docs sites": Manual Reordering and Folders

🟢 Summary

We are making extensive use of GitBook for our documentation and currently manage more than 58 published sites, with the number steadily growing each week. As our documentation library continues to scale, we’ve noticed that the current “Docs sites” management view is becoming increasingly difficult to use efficiently in a professional, day-to-day workflow.

🟠 Current Challenges

With the growing number of sites, the current UI presents some usability challenges that impact our daily work:

• Limited Overview: Managing 58+ sites in a single, flat list makes it hard to maintain a clear overview. Locating a specific site can take longer than expected.
• Navigation Effort: Without any structure or grouping, the experience relies heavily on scrolling, which feels cumbersome as the list grows.
• Fixed Ordering: Since sites are displayed in creation order, frequently used or high-priority documentation may end up far down the list.

💡 Suggested Improvements

To improve clarity and usability for both admins and users, we’d love to see the following enhancements considered:

• Drag-and-Drop Reordering: The ability to manually reorder sites would help keep important documentation easily accessible.
• Folders / Collections: Collapsible folders (collections) would greatly improve structure and reduce visual clutter.

⚙️ Use Case

This is primarily an internal organization use case. For a team and documentation landscape growing at our pace, having a well-structured and intuitive management view is key to staying efficient and organized.
